Number of the Day

Here's something we use all year long.  Students use this activity for morning work two to three times a week.   You can use the actual school day number or a higher number to make it more challenging.  Students create a number web in their math journal to show all 15 ways to show the number.
Other ideas:  Roman numerals, 10 more / 10 less, number sentences, tally marks, pictures, temperature (decide if the number would be cold, warm, hot)

Charts are from the dollar section at Target.

Frankenstein Math Craftivity

It was a lot of fun seeing students use their creativity to create a Frankenstein, Frankie, or Frankenstein Jr.!  A few Frankensteins on Pinterest as well as a co-worker's craftivity gave me the inspiration for this project. Students added a subtraction story and wrote the related addition fact.
Alternative ideas - Stories, poems, other math problems
