This is very similar to my Word Work idea..... a Work on Writing binder.  Having several resources in a binder is one way to help keep Work on Writing resources organized.  It will also help students get started faster!

Word Work......Getting it organized!

The Word Work bookshelf can be a little like shopping at Target.  You go there intending to make it a short trip..... then you soon find yourself distracted by all of the neat things to look at!  To help students avoid this problem, I have created two Word Work binders.  (possibly will make more later) They just grab one and go!

More ideas and links are on my previous post on Word Work.

Binders include:
Pocket pouch that has dry erase markers and one foam die
Word Work Roll / Create
Scrabble Spelling Addition
Rainbow Roll-N-Write
iPad Spelling
Alphabet stencils - from Amazon
Spelling Task Cards - (I used page two.)

Poetry Notebooks

My students usually add one poem a week to their poetry notebooks.  This is a great tool to help students improve their fluency.  They can highlight rhyming words, verbs, adjectives, nouns, etc.  Students can use this notebook during the Read to Self or Read to Someone center.

Glue ribbon to the back to create a bookmark.

This will be the fifth year I will use my own version of Daily 5.  Like so many other teachers, I highly recommend it!  Read the Daily 5 Sub Notes document to get a summary of each center.

Feel free to edit these documents.

One site I found a lot of valuable resources on Daily 5 and many other topics was http://www.proteacher.net.  Join the Peony room for Daily 5 resources.  They also have a room for second grade teachers.
